Skyband Hotspots - Support
What if there is more than one Wi-Fi service provider in the same Hotspot?
Whether there is only one available Wi-Fi network in your vicinity or more than one, you need to select the network (look for the network called "Skyband Hotspot") before you log in.
Once connected to the “Skyband Hotspot”, open your web browser to log in.
How close do I have to be to a Hotspot to access the Internet?
You need to be within the designated Hotspot area in order to get online. The range of a Hotspot area can vary from approximately 20 to 60 metres.
Can I use my minutes of Wi-Fi access at different Skyband Hotspots?
Yes. You can log in at any Skyband-ready Hotspot and use your time.
My Wi-Fi username and password keep getting rejected!
(1) Did you perhaps type in your username and password with Caps Lock on? And if your password is case-sensitive, did you type it in with the capitals and lower-case letters correctly?
(2) Are you already logged in? You cannot log in if your username and password are already being used for Wi-Fi access from another computer at an Skyband-ready Hotspot.
I can't get access at all!
Firstly , if you use a Wi-Fi card that plugs into the side of your notebook PC, please check if the card is properly inserted and installed.
Secondly , if you are more than 20 metres away from the centre of the Hotspot, move closer to the centre to see if this solves the problem. It can happen that the structure of the building you're in may in some way interfere with the signal between where you're sitting and the Wi-Fi base station.
Thirdly , check if the Configuration Software that should have come with your Wi-Fi card is active. If you use any operating system other than Windows XP, it should be. If you don't use Windows XP and your card's Configuration Software has not been installed, please install it first. It should be on the CD ROM that came with your Wi-Fi card.
If your card's Configuration Software is active, check if the "Skyband Hotspot " network has been selected. Depending on your software, the window listing the available Wi-Fi networks could be found under "Networks", "SSID" or "SiteSurvey". Once you have selected the "Internet" network, please click the Connect button if there is one, or double-click on the "Internet" Hotspot entry.
